Domaine La Balansa
Domaine La Balansa cultivates 14Ha of old vines planted on the Hautes-Corbières hillsides. The domaine has been family-run for several generations & is organically cultured & biodynamic grown (Demeter).
The objective is to produce high-quality wines using environmentally friendly practices whilst striving to offer a true reflection of the unique and priceless Hautes Corbières terroir.
The terroir is characterized by its schist soils which are situated on the hillsides at an altitude of 140 to 280 m. & surrounded by scrubland & maquis.
The climate is Mediterranean, dry, sunny & windy. Ideal conditions for the grapes to reach their full potential.
They diversify the grape varieties of their vines, plant and graft drought-resistant grape varieties: Cinsault, Rolle & profiles that inspire them. Quite simply: Xarello & Carignan Blanc.
Vinification & aging the wines of the estate, in various containers: concrete tank, stainless steel tank, barrels and clay.
They really like to use clay for the white wines with the thought that it pushes minerality & freshness.
“Today, we are putting in place solutions so that the cellar is self-sufficient in energy”.
