Agricola Morasinsi
At the foot of Alta Murgia, Sveva and Peter run the 10 hectares family owned farm. They’re
focused on vinegrowing and natural food production following the principles of organic- regenerative farming.
Their project is called Morasinsi.
Morasinsi has two missions: an environment-focused mission and a social-focused mission. The environmental mission aims to protect biodiversity, keeping a well-balanced ecosystem enhancing soil natural fertility and water quality to contribute to the resiliency to the effects of climate change.
Their social mission is to give value to good farming and agricultural work, proving that creating productive ecosystem is a concrete way to improve agricultural system economy and protect the land.
They also have an hectare of food forest, a vegetable garden full of biodiversity and free-ranging chickens grazing in the Nero di Troia vineyard.
Morasinsi’s main product is wine. The wine is produced with no chemical intervention coming from grapes carefully cultivated.
The soil is karstic, calcareous, with clay and a good content in organic matter. Thanks to Morasinsi’s regenerative cultivation techniques the soil is rich in life and humus, the natural food of the vines.
During harvest the grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes and immediately arrives at the winery with a cart.
In the winery the fermentation is always spontaneous thanks to native yeasts which give their personal imprinting to the wines.
For winemaking they use only natural porous materials: natural concrete, ceramics (amphorae) and old barrels.
They follow biodynamic calendar and lunar phases at all stages of production. The decanting is natural thanks to the winter cold and the bottling is manual.
No additives are added to Morasinsi’s wines. They are neither filtered nor clarified.
Sveva and Peter want to express their winemakers’ personality choosing the path of synergy with the terroir and grape variety. They want to produce a natural, sincere, exciting wine at every sip. The winery is situated at the center of the vineyard and from its terrace you can contemplate the agricultural landscape and Murgia’s gentle rolling hills.
In the vineyard, each season is beautiful: spring is a blooming party of wild herbs, summer is full of good fresh fruit and vegetables, autumn with its warm colors is so romantic to walk in the rows of vineyards, winter has a peaceful silence and fresh wind.
